History
As a History minor, I am able to explore one of my favorite things to learn about: American History. I have been extremely lucky to learn about the history of this country and its beginnings from passionate professors. Below are some writing sample from my most interesting classes: Louisiana History and Civil War History.
HIST 3071: Louisiana History
The history of Louisiana is full of colorful characters, corrupt government leaders, and questionable societal events that have made one of the most liveliest states into what it is today. The professor in this class has devoted her life to Louisiana's rich past and culture, and has instilled the appetite for learning into her students. Below are a couple essays that we submitted in conjunction with objective exams. The first, about rogue colonialism in French Colonial New Orleans, and the second, about Social Justice during the 19th century.

HIST 4055: Civil War History
Professor Pratt has become one of my favorite history professors: he is energetic, passionate, and realistic about teaching the Civil War to college students. Below is our term paper, which required us to choose a Civil War event and analyze the newspaper coverage of the event through a state not involved in the event. I chose the Battle of the Wilderness in Virginia, and the newspaper coverage from Pennsylvania and Georgia.
